10/10 MACHINES PLACED

Boy is it a relief to have those things placed. I feel success all around me.

I was out for about 2 hours this morning, placed one at a butchers shop. Then this afternoon I placed one in an auto repair place lobby. They are under new management and I'm sure it will be slow for a while but I'm glad I got the account. The lady behind the counter is a little heavy and she asked for handful of M&M Peanuts, I of course obliged; I think this will work out good.

10/10 MACHINES on location. So what would this route sell for? Any ideas? Brand new tripple-head machines. All on location. I'm extremely excited to see what these machines bring in. God I hope I'm not disappointed. If I average $20 per machine I will jump for joy. If you include candy in the machine, each machine cost me $120. So if they average $20 a month they will pay for themselves in 6 months and I will have a 200% return for the year. Let's hope.

THE SNEAKY SNAKE: Oh I tried it. I read about it from Ronnie Talent. Of course, he is the vending guru so if he did it, then I'm willing to try it. And I did. My first stop was a JoAnn Fabrics and I went right in with a full machine. I asked for the manager, when he came I said, "where would you like your machine, out front or in the break room?" He sort of looked at me blankly and said who are you again? I told him I was from Charity-Vend and he started calling people. I stood their hoping that maybe someone on the phone would say yes, why not. Anyway, he talked to district and they said no, not allowed to put one in. But that is the fastest I have ever got a guy from district on the phone. I should have asked to talk to him. I told the manager of that store that an "associate" of mine booked the location and I didn't know who he talked to. Oh well, I tried it. It failed. Maybe I'll try it again sometime. Does anyone know of a location that this might work better on? My guess is a place with a little more lax management and it might get by. Anyway, there it is from me, I tried the sneaky snake.

10/10 MACHINES WITH HOMES

Well I looked at my books and I have spent $1366. I have some extra candy. Who knows. Maybe I filled the machines too much. And I spent $35 on gumball wheels. I have an extra 1200 gumballs left, $24 bucks. Anyway, it's not too bad.

You are doing great. It is far harder to do the kind of locating that you are doing than what I have done. We have only placed machines in places where we had a connection. If you stick with it, it will pay off big time. I have a question for you. Do you have any trouble carrying the triple vend machines filled with candy?

Hi Rob,

Congrats on getting all of your machines placed! That's awesome!

I love the "Sneaky Snake" story...what a great idea! Really, what do you have to lose? If nothing else, it is probably entertaining as hell to see a store manager scramble to try and figure out what the heck is going on. I mean, worse-case scenario, they simply ask you to leave the store, right? Anyway, I think this method is worth trying again. Maybe this would work better with local Florida franchises (like Ale House)?

Take care,
Ryan

Ryan! Nice call on Ale House. I love Ale House haha. $5 for 4 mini burgers and fries. It's the best deal in town. I must have eaten there 200 times when I was at college in Orlando. We have one here too by a college campus. Hmm.. That would be a really, really, great place for a machine. I don't know if I want to risk losing it on the sneaky snake :p But I mean, I guess if they said no I could ask to see the manager anyway. I've been thinking about a hot nut machine for the bar there. I think that would be a hit.

Except, I asked the hostess out at our local Ale House one day so it may not be the best place.

Ken,
Yeah I know. To be honest I'm trying to talk myself down from this vending business a little bit. I want to go crazy and get a 100 machines out there in the next couple months but I don't want to have some massive vending backlash. I've been thinking hard about stuff that could hurt the business.

I know the hardest thing is getting out there and finding locations. Man, I hated it at first. Even today, I sat in the car for a few minutes before I went into my first location. I sort of talk myself up or something.

Carrying the monsterous 100 pound machine: Yes it is heavy, and very top heavy. But I'm young, 6',about 200lbs. I'm not all muscle but I'm not weak. I can hold a full machine with one hand for long enough to swing a door open real quick, a second or two. Sometimes I feel like I'm working construction with those machines. Ken I have faith that you'll be able to do it if you want to try the Sneaky Snake some time.

Ryan: It was a little scary even though nothing could have happened. I don't know why. I felt like saying to the manager afterwards: "Well you can't say I didn't give it a shot." But, he didn't really seem like the type that would think that was funny. I wish someone was there video taping it. I'm sure I would be laughing watching it. Yeah, in retrospect it was funny.

LAST STORY:
I drive to a part of town that I'm not to familiar with, Walk into this tatoo/piercing place with bars on the windows and walk up to a 300lb guy with a massive beard and tatoos, as he says to me "do you need something" in a voice that would have scared most children. Now picture a place full with tatoo people, me in a pressed black business suit, trying to sell this tatoo artist, massive guy on putting a candy machine in his location. I mean it's just funny. I don't know what else to say. You become oblivious to the surroundings after a while.

I guess you have to realize we are all people. We all do dumb things. No one is better than the other person. I'm just trying to make a living like he is. You just have to say, whatever, and go with the flow.

GOOD. Now buy more. ha ha.

The machines will anywhere from $5 to $20. $10 is most likely. The few good ones will make up for the bad. Are you finding locating any easier? Probly so. Do not try buying more amount this time. I mean you can if you like, but stick with 10 more. Or 5, or 1. It is your choice. I think you are doing very well.

Get to where you can place 7 or 8 machines a day, and you will get moving very, very, very FAST!

The record book: You need a Folder. Get a 1" three ring binder. Keep all info. in tht binder. Permits (If you have them!) amout in machines amouth commission, amount to location, amount to you.

Have them sign off, stating that thay got your commission. This will keep you orginized, and keep you from people lieing, with thay do, about not getting there commission. 1 BINDER PER MACHINE! This will help a lot!

What brond of machines are you going to buy next? Are you going to stick with the GMW? Get more machines, and get back out there.

Also what is your full time job? Do you have one?

Don't worry about your spelling Kyle.

Well, I sort of want to stick with GMW. I know, I know, it's shit, but it's cheap shit. So who knows.

Well I figured someone would wonder how I had all this free time eventually. I just graduated college so I'm on summer break. Should I have a summer job? Yeah, probably. But my parents are fine with me doing the candy thing. As long as I do something ; )

ABOUT THE MACHINES: If I thought the coin mech's were going to go out I wouldn't buy more. And when I go to get more I'm going to ask him candidly about the coin mechs. But I can tell you I tried to break one of them and I couldn't. They must be built better than the rest of the machine. Who knows. They don't want to fall apart though.

$10 per machine.. I was hoping for $20. But $10 would be ok I guess. I mean these are tripple head with two types of candy and gumballs. That should help right?

What did you think of the Sneaky Snake Kyle? I want you to get out there and try that one day. Just to see what happens.

I know you're not interested in locators but I'm going to try and get you guys some special deals. I've been talking to some locators and I think I've definitely found the best one out there. I'm going to give him a SMALL test run. No big money, nothing to worry about. Just a test run to see if he can come up with locations that I can't.

I know I can find locations myself so it's no use hiring someone to do it for me if I don't have to be doing anything else anyway. But, just in the interest of trying...

You never know Kyle. You may get excited with some of the locations this guy finds for me. Then you may want to try, I doubt it but well see. I'll definitely keep you aprised of the progress.

Well, I don't have a SUV for tomorrow to pickup machines but I will have one on Wednesday. I'm sort of thinking of trying to preplace some. God what if I could preplace all 10 tomorrow. I don't know. I don't want to get my hopes up. I'm not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. Talk soon.

Best of luck on dealing with the GMW towmarrow.

I have my new machine together and it looks good!

Cheap crap, is not good crap. Think, what if you have to replace 20 machines in a year because thay broke. That would suck! But, as long as thay replace parts, go ahead! Safe driving to you Wed. and best of luck!
