The guy sent me a list of his 30 locations and let me tell you, I don't think he has ever serviced them. Out of 8, 2 machines are on location still. Amazing right. I'll just make him an offer on his still good machines and the 8 in his garage once I'm finished checking them all.
So the good that came out of it was I found a bank that he had once had one in and now I'm getting in there! Someone had actually already replaced him but the M&M Peanuts were out and that is what sold the girls in the back. It had only been there since February so they obviously eat a lot of them. I told them I would keep it full and I told them they could pick the candy they wanted. So they want M&M Peanuts, Reeses, and Runts; no problem. I'm placing the machine on Friday. I'll go to the rest of this guys locations and try and put my machines in since his will most likely be gone by now. So in two locations today, the bank that I'm putting my machine in and this other furniture store had the same guys machines in them. Both with M&M Peanuts missing. I will have to go back to the furniture store and offer to put in my own machine but anyway.
I called the guy. I had actually called him last week but I didn't know it was the same guy. I talked to him today though and he has 300 machines around town. They are all 1800-vend machines. Can you believe it? He paid $230 + $40 for locations for 135 of them initially and then bought another 150 for $75 used and had them located as well. Nice guy though. So now we have a machine at the same bank. I don't think he will care. He must have some money.
So, I guess it was a good day. I'm going to have to buy more machines pretty quick. I'm basically out. I have 1 of mine left after the bank machine is placed and then one machine that I need to replace the locks on. DAMN, WHERE IS MY LOCATOR! The guy who had his 1800vend machines located gave me the name of the guy who located his machines for him in case I want to use him. That was nice.

UPDATE: I figured out that the more google adwords I add around my site the more related content I get. Meaning there should be some new sites you havn't seen before. Anyway, I think it's cool. Rob

It sounds like the route is pretty unpredictable. If he is serious about selling, you might ask him to go on the route with you so you can see what each location seems like. If he is not willing to do that, then the route may not be worth anything at all above what the machines are worth to you. If they are inferior machines, you might not even want them at all, but you could offer him a little just to get the few good locations. It is a tough call.
On another note. My son just called the owner of a 50 employee construction business and got the approval to put a two head machine in their employee break room, with no commission. We will deliver the machine this afternoon. They only have a soda machine now, so hopefully it will be a good location. We are setting them up with gumballs and peanut m&m's.

I think you may want to reconsider gumballs. In a place where people are working hard like at a construction business they probably wont' sell to well. Reeses or regular M&M's or runts will probably do much better!
Also, if you have two machines I would bring two down with 4 candy options. When you go in with the first machine have your son say "I brought another machine because I think your workers are hungry" or something to that extent. In my mind two machines in location like that will make double the profit, especially if you provide them with options such as m&m peanuts, m&m's, reeses, and runts!
Try it! You already have the location, now double it! I want to hear you doubling story when I get back today.
I'm about to get out today and check the rest of his locations. I had to take my pops to the airport this morning at 6am and I didn't get home last night until midnight, and didn't getup until 1:00pm today. I guess my body needed to recover a bit from the 4th.
So today I'll check his machines and maybe locate one if I get the urge, I doubt it though, I'm a little worn out still for that.
You know what, maybe I'll hit the bank up that I started my change account at! Good call. I'll do that, stop at his locations, grab some lunch, and call it a day.
KEN, don't let us down. Get two machines in that 50 person goldmine! Just think of 4 workers all right next to each other jamming quarters into the machines because they are so tired and hungry just looking for a little refreshment!
ONE MORE THING: There is this killer location at this lunch place that I want. The lunch joint is very popular and new, and I want to do a "toy extravaganza" section. So instead of just asking the manager for a quick no I have a new concept. I'm going to go and take a picture of the inside of the place today. Then I'm going to photoshop my machines and a bunch of kids using them into the picture. You know, something to keep the kids busy while the parents order!

My son called on the phone because he knew the owner. My son goes to middle school with his daughter. We have not been in the location yet to check it out. I just got the idea from a friend that works there. He said they have a break room and no candy, just soda. Maybe when we see the room, we might think different, but just locating the 2 head machine today.

NO GUMBALLS! Try, Mike and Ike's. I once tried to sell gumballs in a break room, SOLD ONE GUMBALL IN A MONTH. I switched to Mike and Ike's and thay sold 2/3 out! You will have to get Coooking Spray (the stuff you put n pans to keep food from sticking) and spray LIGHTLY on the candies. This will keep them from clumping. Side by Side Peanut M&M's and Mike & Ikes will be a profit POWERHOUSE.
I still get nervous calling to place machines. Hats off to your son.

We delivered the machine. We left gumballs and peanut M&M's for now. We have another similar spot that has gumballs and hot tamales, and the gumballs do great. If this combo does not work out, we will change it next month.
We ate lunch at a local diner and noticed that their single head gumball machine was completely gone. We asked about it and the lady said that the people that fill it up just came and took it, but it was the diner's machine. That does not make sense, why would you own a machine and someone else would fill it. We asked about putting one in, and she said to contact the owner, that she was not there. We will see.
